Site Management

There are different ways in which you may interact with this web site.

Anyone can fill in the Email Comment form (under the "Home" menu item).  Although aimed mainly at those wishing to comment on the canal basin that form may be used also for any general comment.

Anyone, once registered, may submit an article for publication. See the "Register to Submit Article" menu item under "Site".  Once registered and logged in an additional menu item "Submit an Article" will appear. Click this and a form for typing in text will appear.  You can copy paste text into these forms from an existing document.  This process sets the user up as a "Registered" user.

There are also site users who are promoted to higher user levels of  "Author" or "Publisher" who are able to edit the site and also determine what submitted articles will be "Published".

So now you can have a play entering/editing text.  Only registered Users can see whatever you put there.

Lesson (2) Adding a new Article to Practice Page

When you have logged in an extra Menu will appear below the Log in.

Click the “Create Article” item on the right.

For initial Practice set the “Category of the Article to “Practice Page”.

Enter a Title at the top and some text.

Save the Article and it should appear on the Practice Page.

Lesson (3)  Editing Existing Articles

The same procedure applies to edit any other article on any page on the site.

You could start by editing the Article on the Home page or the Practice Page

Lesson (4)  Adding New Articles

This is the same as (2) but you need to make sure you make the article appear in the right place by assigning the right “Category”

Categories are linked to pages and menus.  Some examples are

“Front Page”  >> go automatically on the Home Page

“Meeting Minutes”  >> go automatically on the Meeting Minutes Page

"Boat Rally" >> go automatically to the Boat Rally Page

“Site Management”  >> go automatically on the Site Management Page

“Practice Page” >> go automatically on the Practice Page

"UnCategorized " articles go to the "Uncategorized Articles" page.

(Useful if you forget to set the right Category)
