The Whitchurch Waterway Trust has decided to continue seeking comments on the proposed canal basin design and not to make the Planning application until after the AGM on March 21st.

In the period from February 9th for about two weeks (the exact dates are not yet confirmed) the plans and documents are being technically reviewed by British Waterways and some experts who have kindly agreed to assist us.

So we are still accepting comments and it is still fairly easy for the design to be changed. At the moment the target date for submitting comments to Platt White for the next drawing revision will be early in March.   Just prior to that we expect to have technical meetings to resolve all the issues that have arisen and the comments that have been made.

The more comments and suggestions we receive the better chance we have to develop a design that is acceptable to everyone.  We really are open to suggestions so please tell us your views and thankyou to all the people who have commented so far.

In the weeks prior to the AGM on  March 21st an exhibition will be set up in the Heritage centre using the next revision of the drawings and we hope by that time the design will be sufficiently resolved for us to make our planning application very soon after the AGM.

Below are some pictures of the site as it is now to explain why the design shows the basin the shape that it is.

The basin is limited in size by the idea that it should be based within the constraints off being built on what is now solid ground.
